Sorcha A. Brophy

Dr. Brophy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Mailman School of Public Health. Her current research agenda focuses on politics within representative health worker organizations and on health workforce challenges. Her book, Mission Driven: The Backstage Labor of Organizational Ethics will be published by Stanford University Press in early 2027. She is conducting ongoing fieldwork on workforce challenges in nursing and community health centers. Her recent work can be found in management, policy, and sociology outlets including the Journal of Professions and Organization, Health Affairs, BMJ, BMJ Global Health, and the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law.
