Abstract: This presentation will review the state of the science and future directions for research on the cardiovascular health of sexual and gender minority populations. It will begin with a summary of documented cardiovascular health disparities among sexual and gender minority people across the lifespan. Findings from interdisciplinary population and clinical research studies focused on social and structural determinants of cardiovascular health among sexual and gender minority populations will be discussed. The presentation will conclude with an overview of innovations in research, policy, and practice that are needed to reduce cardiovascular health disparities among sexual and gender minority people.
