Sexual Health and Wellbeing: The Role of Public Health Research, Training, and Practice

This miniconference will feature panel presentations and discussions on the role of public health in efforts to define, investigate, and promote sexual health among diverse populations in the U.S. and globally. Specific questions to be explored include but are not limited to: a) What are the cross-cutting issues in taking a public health approach to promoting sexual health? b) How can public health support a rights and/or empowerment versus biomedical approach to sexual health? and c) How can public health better integrate attention to sexual health issues in research and training? Presentations will center on the following themes: sex education, sexual violence throughout the lifecourse, and sexual and reproductive rights.
